Global Warming and Skin Cancer.
I bring this up because I care. BECAUSE I CARE.
Melanoma
"Over 51,000 new cases are reported to the American Cancer Society each year..."
SkinCancer Facts
"While melanoma is uncommon in African-Americans, Latinos, and Asians, it is most deadly for these populations."
"The majority of people diagnosed with melanoma are white men over age 50."
"The incidence of melanoma is increasing rapidly in women under age 40.
It is now the most common cancer in young women aged 25-29, and second
only to breast cancer in women aged 30-34."
"Teens may be especially susceptible to skin cancer because their
cells are dividing and changing more rapidly than those of adults." |

"What we are seeing is absolutely unusual," said Prof Schellnhuber. "We know that global warming is proceeding apace, but most of us were thinking that in 20-30 years time we would be seeing hot spells [like this]. But it's happening now. Clearly extreme weather events will increase."
"The upper limit of global warming, they suggested, should range between 7C and 10C, which would severely affect food and water supplies, traumatise most economies, and fundamentally change everyday life."
"· Italy's national electricity grid said it had cut power to some big industrial customers amid soaring demand from air conditioners" (Did not expect this to happen so quickly...ssshhheeeeyit.)

"Melting sea ice would not affect sea levels, but it could profoundly impact summer shipping lanes, plankton blooms, ocean circulation systems, and global climate.
"If the perennial ice cover, which consists mainly of thick multi-year ice floes, disappears, the entire Arctic Ocean climate and ecology would become very different," said Josefino Comiso, a researcher at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md., who authored the study. " |

Earlier today I was taking down the userinfo page, figured it'd be better if I just worked offline...and tried to promote it afterwards... I stopped because I figured I'd give it another day to decide... -------------------------------------------------------- While I was at the Engine, the other day I ran into an article on "Big Numbers" a book by Alan Moore and Bill Sceinkowicz (sic) which was never finished due to Seinkowicz going through a serious rough patch in his life. It was really helpful, and it really got me to thinking about straightening myself out. Thanks... ------------------------------- OF the scripts I posted recently I think, "drama is stupid" comes right after "Y?" ----------------------------- I almost posted some of the older scripts , but tweaked, just so there'd be more context, and things made more sense... Its 5am now. I should try sleeping... |

| Short Bar scene I wrote back in FEbruary. |
[Sep. 28th, 2005|01:41 am] |
Characters: Prick: Porcupine man Thelo: Lizard guy who hates himself.
Setting: Bar
Prick: Remember Viceroy.. Thelo: Viceroy? Prick: Now, talk about bad luck. OK you know how some brightly colored butterflies taste nasty? So if a bird eats one of them, he won't eat any more?
Thelo: Yeah, what happened to him? Prick: A bird ate him. Chewed him up, didn't like how he tasted, and spat him out. Thelo: Thats terrible. Prick: Yeah...so don't talk to me about bad adaptations. |
